Director of Government Affairs
This is a rare opportunity to drive government affairs in a highly regulated, rapidly evolving industry while helping millions make safer choices!
Haypp Group
At Haypp Group, we’re driven by a higher purpose to address one of the world’s biggest public health challenges: how to put an end to smoking. Globally, there are still more than 1 billion active smokers, and every year around 8 million people die from largely preventable, smoking-related diseases. Our goal is to empower adult nicotine users to make less harmful choices and, in doing so, save lives. We do this by being the go-to online retailer for safer nicotine alternatives.
Haypp Group is one of the Nordic region’s leading e-commerce retailers when it comes to safer nicotine alternatives, with 17 digital storefronts and an established presence in 7 countries. Nicotine pouches (snus) were invented in Sweden, which is why our head office is based here—but the U.S. is by far our fastest-growing market. Through our dedicated U.S. site Nicokick, we’ve served millions of customers, and that number continues to grow.
With around 280 team members across Europe and the U.S., we are now scaling our local operations in Arlington, Virginia. At Haypp Group, you’ll experience the perks of a Scandinavian-American workplace without having to move overseas. We are an open-minded organization with energy and drive, where ideas are welcomed from all levels and you’re valued for being you.
THE ROLE
As we continue expanding in the U.S. market, we’re looking for a Director of Government Affairs to join our External & Regulatory Affairs team in Arlington, Virginia. • Prepare bi-weekly legislative updates and monthly federal policy summaries for internal stakeholders
• Maintain and update the advocacy library with regulatory references, policy materials, and filings
• Support participation in external industry events such as FDLI, TSRC, GTNF, and ATNF, including preparing post-event summaries
• Contribute to the development of advocacy materials and coordinate closely with communications and legal teams
• Assist with project planning, budget tracking, and expense reporting across workstreams
WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR
• 3–5 years with exposure to policy and advocacy, government affairs and managing key stakeholder relationships
• Solid understanding of federal and state legislative and processes
• Strong research, analytical, and writing skills, with the ability to translate complex regulatory information into clear insights
• Experience monitoring statutory developments and assessing business impact
• Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple workstreams simultaneously
• Collaborative mindset and ability to work cross-functionally with internal and external stakeholders
A BONUS IF YOU ALSO BRING
• Exposure to lobbying, advocacy, or public policy engagement
• Experience attending or contributing to industry conferences and regulatory forums
• Familiarity with regulatory strategy in fast-moving or highly regulated industries
YOU WILL PROBABLY THRIVE HERE IF YOU
• Are passionate about regulatory affairs and public policy in a highly dynamic industry
• Enjoy translating complex regulations into actionable insights
• Thrive in a fast-paced, collaborative, and entrepreneurial environment
• Take ownership of your work while contributing to a broader team mission
